Full of Animals! Animal Art Exhibition

August 3 [Sat]-October 14 [Mon] 2019

Sho SAITO, National Language Class, 2017, artist's own collection

The paintings and sculptures on animals have been created all over the world. Some of the well-known examples from ancient times may be the painted walls of 15,000 B.C. in Lascaux (France), the bronze figure of a seated cat from Egypt, and the bird, animal and person caricatures (ch?j?-jinbutsu-giga) of around 800 years ago in Japan. This exhibition will mainly introduce you the paintings on animals created by the Japanese artists, together with the sculptures and glass objects related to animals. Animals of both realistic looking ones and deformed ones with full of individuality will be waiting you at the exhibition. You may even find the feelings of the artists towards the animals they created.

At the same time, we will display the selected works of the elementary and junior high school children applied from all over Japan, at the 3rd Japan Biennale of Children's Painting. We hope you can enjoy the children's works of great effort.
