The special exhibition

Exhibition of Treasury, Fine and Rare Pieces

January 2 [Thurs]-March 8 [Sun] 2020

Tsuyoshi NAGABUCHI, Acala -when anger turns to sorrow-  1998

In the year 2020 of International events, we will open the exhibition right for this year, by displaying lots of the fine and rare pieces of all times and places. While Japan developed its original culture during the period of isolation, various Japanese arts flourished through adopting European cultures after opening the country to the outside world.

We display rare pieces including a plate with a Christian symbol to be trodden on to prove someone non-Christian, for the Ban on Christianity during the Edo period, curious Western style paintings of the late Edo period, flexible metal objects globally appreciated for their high craftsmanship, a pair of engraved tablets putting up at the gateway of a traditional Chinese house. Besides, we introduce the refreshing aspects of the famous figures besides their main business, such as the calligraphy of Tsuyoshi NAGABCHI. Moreover, do not miss to view the life mask made by Yuzo SAEKI. We hope you to take enough time to view around the exhibition.
