ViewS館内のご案内
笠間日動画館は、日動画廊の創設者である長谷川仁と林子夫妻によって、1972年に開館されました。この地は、御殿医であった長谷川家累代の屋敷跡で、茨城県笠間市のほぼ中心に位置します。仁は「優れた美術作品をより多くの人々に届ける」という理念を掲げていました。その遺志は息子である現館長の徳七に受け継がれ、施設の充実と作品の収集につとめています。
The Kasama Nichido Museum of Art was founded in 1972 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Gallery Nichido's establishment by Jin and Rinko Hasegawa. The land on which the museum stands is the site where the Hasegawa Family estate has stood for generations.Jin believed the ideal of "bringing outstanding art to a larger audience." Following his passing in 1976, his son Tokushichi took over his father’s legacy and has continued to this day to expand the Museum’s collection.
なだらかな丘陵地に位置する当館は、敷地内に3つの展示館を持ち、中心部には緑豊かな野外彫刻庭園が広がっています。企画展示館1・2階は展示室。3階にはオープンテラスの「Cafe de l'aube (カフェ・ド・ローヴ)」があります。竹林を抜け野外彫刻庭園を鑑賞しながら、名画が集うフランス館へ（徒歩3～4分）。日本館、フランス館から企画展示館へはゆるやかな上りとなります（徒歩4～5分）。
Set on gently rolling hills, our museum has three exhibition halls, and the outdoor sculpture garden spanning the central area. The first and second floors of the Special Exhibits Wing house exhibition rooms. The third floor houses the open-air terrace, 'Café de l'Aube'. Pass through the bamboo grove and admire the outdoor sculpture garden on your way to the French Wing, which is home to a collection of masterpieces (3–4 minutes on foot). The path from the Japanese and French Wings to the Special Exhibits Wing is a gentle uphill walk (4–5 minutes on foot).
企画展示館 / The Special Exhibits Wing
年間を通じさまざまな特別展を開催します。
なお1階には鴨居玲の部屋を併設しています。1階は可動パネルを備えた絵画中心の展示室、2階は重要美術品、日本画の軸装、各種工芸品の総合展示も可能な大型ガラス陳列ケースを備え付けており、洋画、日本画、彫刻、写真、工芸と幅広いジャンルの展覧会を開催しております。
フランス館 / The French Wing
2階では、日本の近代絵画に大きな影響を与えたヨーロッパ印象派からエコール・ド・パリへと続くフランスゆかりの著名画家の作品を幅広く常設展示します。
1階は創設者を顕彰する意味を込めた長谷川仁・林子記念室、デッサン室、ミュージアムショップがあります。

日本館 / The Japanese Wing
当館とゆかりの深い画家の記念室、及び画家が愛用したパレット画の展示室を設置し、その画業を顕彰しています。
5階は「奥谷博記念室」、3階は「金山平三・佐竹徳記念室」、2階はおもに立体作品を展示する小品展示室、1階には画家が愛用したパレット画の展示室があります。

野外彫刻庭園 / The Outdoor Sculpture Garden
我が国の具象彫刻界を代表する作家のいずれも代表作品といえる秀作19体が、四季折々の花樹を背景にしてあでやかな美の競演を繰り広げています。
